M4 Sherman PSC 1942

Maintenance

This M4 Sherman PSC (Pressed Steel Car Company) arrived at BAIV for deactivation and a general technical check-up. During inspection, several issues were discovered, including a malfunctioning cooling system. A full vehicle assessment is being carried out to ensure safe and reliable operation.

The cooling system is currently being overhauled with new radiator fans, a newly fabricated radiator cowling, an added engine oil cooler, auxiliary cooling fans for the engine and transmission, and replacement thermostats.

A correct manlet for this production year is being reproduced, and the gun shield is being modified to match the proper configuration for this tank. New reproduction duckbills will be installed, and various exterior details are being repaired or refined, including tool fittings, brush guards, and range-damage corrections.

The leak in the right final drive is being resolved with new seals and gaskets. Wiring issues are being addressed, the electrical system is being tidied up, and new reproduction hatch-lock systems will be added as part of the ongoing work.
